Private day tour of Nafplion
€79 per person
Introduce yourself to the picturesque city of Nafplio in a full-day tour that will satisfy all of your senses!
Nafplio, a beautiful seaport town was the capital of the First Hellenic Republic and of the Kingdom of Greece before it was eventually moved to Athens by King Otto in the 19th century. On our exploration we will follow an idyllic trail to discover Nafplio’s most precious sites starting from the medieval Old Town, continuing all the way through the cobblestoned alleyways to the neoclassical mansions surrounded by beautiful Bougainvillea trees.
Additionally, a visit to the spectacular Palamidi Fortress is also included in this tour. The well preserved fortress is one of the greatest achievements of Venetian fortification architecture and in fact, it is the place where the liberation of Nafplio from the Turks began. The hill of Palamidi, which takes its name from the ancient hero Palamidis, can also be enjoyed…but at a price…to walk the 999 steps needed to reach the top! (The views are worth it!)
In addition, a boat ride will lead you to ‘Bourtzi’ located in the middle of Nafplio’s wonderful harbour. The majestic Venetian “castle of the throne” stands proudly in the center of the port and has many interesting tales to tell.
